I am a visual person, I always have been. Patterns, textures and color always draw me in. So when a collection, comprised almost entirely of black has the ability to grasp & hold my attention from start to finish, I know there is something to talk (er,blog) about! Aside from the closing piece of the collection (& obviously my new obsession), the line was exciting, without all the added wow of color & print. Consisting of everything from body-con silhouettes to wear to work appropriate sheaths, I was impressed from the first look. The fashionista in me kept thinking about the pieces, when I could buy them & where I would wear them, but the stylist in me was critiquing. Some designers send down their collection & don't always take into consideration where the "extras" are needed; it only takes one tweak or accessory to complete the look and I have to thank Jovanna Reyes for going the extra mile during her styling. Her pieces were strong enough on their own, they appeared to me to be those items that even hang well in the store (we all know how rare that is), so she didn't
have to think ahead into the production/styling side of things, but she did. The drama of the headpieces used added to the beauty & mystery behind the sexy, curve-loving designs. Jovanna Reyes called upon California based milliner
Arturo Rios and his beautifully constructed designs to complete the story she created on the runway. Who is that story about? When interviewed by
Plus Model Magazine , Jovanna Reyes said
Curvysta is for the "strong, feminine, bold, powerful woman that is not afraid to show her curves". I'd like to say as one of those women, I agree.
Congrats on the line and I look forward to strutting my stuff in these pieces. My favorites...
