Meg’s Must Haves: 7 Fall Fashion Favorites feat. JD Williams

I don’t know about you guys, but the last week of August/First week of September is always heart breaking for me. I’m an adult, but still get that dreaded “back to school” feeling! Anyone else? LOL. It’s bitter sweet....

On one hand, we have to say good bye to summer. Goodbye to the beach filled weekends, the spontaneous fun, the longer days and hotter nights. On the other hand, we get to celebrate in that "back to school clean slate" feeling. Fall brings opportunity and newness. The change of seasons is a rebirth of sorts, out with the old and in with the new, and it applies to fashion as well!

It does, however, become a tricky time of year to navigate your wardrobe. Monday can have an autumn chill and two days later Wednesday can feel like mid-July all over again! The trick is to transition some of your summer wardrobe into fall vy adding small doses of freshness, fashion and trend in smart ways. A leather jacket, a more weighted trouser, a suede shoe – the smallest additions can make the biggest impacts and allow you to get more wear out of those summery styles you aren’t ready to let go of!

Here are my top picks from the JD Williams New Arrivals, sure to help you tranisition effortlessly into fall. Don't forget to scroll down and shop the post. My pals at JD Williams were kind enough to offer an exclusive 40% OFF DISCOUNT for LLD Readers (YASSS). Shop with code MEAGHAN40 and receive an exclusive 40%!! PS_ Don't forget to tag me on your purchases so I can see your fab fall fashion!

1. Army Green Trousers

Prolong the life of your summer blouses by grounding them with an on-trend army green trouser. Not into green? Just grab a darker colored trouser to balance out your look!

2.  A New Basic

Out with the old, in with the new. Of course, you don’t need to replace ALL or even ANY of your basics if they’re in good condition, but if you’re anything like me – your white blouse you’ve been mixing and matching outfits with all summer long is on its last leg! This basic cami in Ivory is the perfect updated wear everywhere piece!

3.  Red Pumps

Just trust me on this one! I know it seems like a lot, but pack away those sandals, open toe block heels and flip flops – bold footwear is here for fall!  A pop of color, embroidery, metallic ankle booties  and even statement sneakers! So use saying goodbye to summer as an opportunity to buy a new pair of shoes! And, when you do, grab a bold color in a fall-ready fabric like suede or leather!

4. Polished Ruffles

“Wear a trend, but make sure its wearable”, I say this to my clients all the time.. You can wear a trend in a subtle way without being too in your face. This ruffle front check blouse is the perfect transitional trend piece- wear it with jeans/ a skirt/ under a blazer! Wearability is key!

5. A Statement Making Layer

I am a big fan of white AFTER  labor day, but the second September hits I always try to “ground” my white skinny jeans with a more fall-ready piece. Think: leather jackets, lightweight sweaters, long sleeve blouses or a statement making layer like this Kimono! This is the perfect layering piece, I can style it over an LBD, with white skinny jeans, or even over a bathing suit and shorts on those extra hot September days!

6. The Wear Everywhere Jacket

Denim or Leather, find yourself a jacket that you can pair with EVERYTHING. And I mean, everything. I always make a point to invest in a good denim jacket and/or a good leather jacket– it doesn’t need to be francy, frilly, embroidered, painted etc. or have any other on-trend element. It just need to be made well, fit well and worn well :)

7. Sneaker Mania

Athleaisure isn’t going anywhere this season, and neither are the super comfortable footwear options that fall under this category! So, lucky for us, comfort is on-trend this season. Snag a pair of snakeskin sneakers (or any print/pattern/design element, really) and wear them with everything from skinny jeans to ankle grazing trousers and mini skirts!
