Ralph Lauren described his inspiration, in his notes, as coming from the farmer, the cowboy, and the pioneer women of the prairies - classic American style with a new found optimism.
The looks were focused on the pieces; accessories were minimal with only T-bar sandals, newsboy caps and understated jewelry. Mirroring his inspiration, the clothing represented rougher times and hard work. The clothing was wearable showing its toughness while still conveying an inspirational aura.
With not one polo in sight, the collection was inspiring; denim with sparkle, blue ombré silk charmeuse, nightshirts with beads, and floor-grazing lamé dress made from overalls. The show was not a typical Ralph Lauren show; he really pushed himself to his limit which in turn has made him standout against the other shows. With the reality of the clothing and the inspiration of the music you couldn’t help but to feel uplifted by the end. This was a perfect show for the last day of fashion week.
Here's what had us falling in love with the American spirit all over again..
