Hey Limette's, we're back with our reviews of London's Fashion Week!
The 25 year old tradition, which is known for highlighting their young and innovative talents, began on September 18th. London Fashion Week (LFW) is one of the highest profile fashion events in the world and one of the ‘big four’ international catwalk influencers. The event is organized by the British Fashion Council (BFC) and funded by a number of sponsors.

London’s Fashion Week unfolded when the British Fashion Council decided to bring a number of designer exhibitions under one roof. Despite the fact that it’s the youngest of its fashion week counterparts, London has brought some unbelievable talent into the fashion world throughout its 25 year rein. John Galliano debuted his line in 1984, Vivienne Westwood returned to her hometown and showed in London versus Paris in 87' and in 1988 Naomi Campbell became one of Jasper Conran’s models, leading to her being the first black model on the cover of French Vogue. In 92', Alexander McQueen debuted his collection which made him a legend, in 95' Stella McCartney presented her graduate show and in 98' Paul Smith presented his first "proper" runway show. In 2005, Fashion Fringe launched, assisting cutting-edge designers with creative direction and funding, in 05' Gareth Pugh filled the void when London lost McQueen and in 2006 Christopher Kane launched his first collection.
2009 was just as impressive. Here is our LLD snapshot of what we loved from London:
Twenty8Twelve: Faded denims, short shorts, bandeau tops, micro minis, and tiny waistcoats graced the runway collection brought to us by Sienna & Savannah Miller. The black leather biker jacket with stud-and-bead-encrusted sleeves and the draped lamé mini dresses had us praying for a night out at the club.
Mark Fast: Ferociously Refreshing, Mark fast introduced his Spring 2010 line by sending out size 12 and 14 models in his notoriously sexy cob-web inspired knit dresses! Fast sent down a scoop neck dresses w/ fringed skirts, sexy low cut ruffled dress and his signature knit frocks. Fast's collection impressed, but what really wowed us was his use of the fabulous plus size models. Loving a woman at any size is something LLD thinks is fab!
Burberry: Christopher Bailey did it again. Draping, knotting, twisting and ruching was seen throughout this powerful collection which included fabrics such as chiffon, tulle and satin. His neutral palette was spruced up by springtime pastels that put a smile on our faces. He put a spin on the iconic trench by making it into a sexy dress with strong shoulders, sent down cashmere knits that hugged the body and had ruffles on everything from colored dresses to his trenches. As always, Burberry left us & LFW more than impressed.
We wish we had time to review all the LFW shows, but there isn't time. After all... Milan Fashion Week starts today!! So stay tuned for our Milan reviews...
