Recently I had the chance to catch up with the awesome designer, and this is what she said…
Lindsay Clutch
LLD: Describe Danielle Nicole in your own words. What was your initial inspiration in starting this line?
DD: Danielle Nicole handbags are classic-contempory handbags. My inspiration comes from traveling throughout Europe and the United States seeking the latest trends yet inspiring me to search and feel what my chic client needs and wants in an assessory to complement their ever changing wardrobe . My company started with the promise to always realize that my clients are very important and their satisfaction will always come first .
LLD: Why do you focus on lambskin have you considered using other fabrics or leathers? If so, why not use them?
DD: I focus on lambskin because it is soft to the touch and light weight. For our Spring 2010 collection we will be using Hermes leather, which is not only soft, but it is know for its vibrant colors. We will also be experimenting with snake and printed skin leather.
LLD: What is the story behind the names of your bags?DD: Each bag is named after the people and places that inspire and support me.
LLD: Is Danielle Nicole offered in other countries besides the US?
DD: Yes, Danielle Nicole is available in stores in China, Japan, and Canada.
Elle Nicole's Melanie: $95
LLD: What is your top short term and long-term goal for the company?DD: My short-term goal is to expand the handbag business and brand more internationally. I also am expanding into a different market with my new line, Elle Nicole. This line features eco/vegan friendly handbags at an affordable price. Further on, we plan to expand the company into other small leather goods such as shoes, belts, and wallets. Then eventually jewelry and clothing!
LLD: What is Elle Nicole? How will it compliment and how will it differentiate from Danielle Nicole?
DD: Elle Nicole is our bridge line. It provides the consumer with the opportunity to have a quality luxury handbag at an affordable price that is not only fashion forward, but functional as well.
Melanie Mini
LLD: Which is your favorite Danielle Nicole handbag?DD: I must admit I have several favorites of my line!! When you design a handbag your creativity is so exciting that each bag becomes your favorite at the time! After you see your idea become an actual handbag the feeling is so incredible. This truly is my life and I love it!
LLD: If you had to make recommendations to our Limettes, which bag is the most versatile? Many of our Limettes need items that work from day to night - which bag would you suggest for this?
DD: Melanie or Melanie Mini are both very versatile. They are great bags because their straps are adjustable and there is plenty of space put all your belongings. The Lindsay clutch is great for day or night; it is a great size that can fit so many things while still being compact.
LLD: What designer(s) have inspired you over the years? What about them has inspired you?
DD: Both Thomas Maier of Bottega Veneta and Valentino reflect my style, from their construction of a silhouette to the use of soft leather. I also love Dennis Basso, I love how he uses different skins and materials.

LLD: Are there any stores and/or designers you would love to collaborate with in the future?
DD: I would like to do a special collection with Bergdorf Goodman; in the spring we are doing an exclusive for Saks Fifth Avenue.
LLD: What is the top most important part about coordinating a proper handbag with an outfit?DD: Make sure your handbag complements your ensemble. Handbags are great way to spice up any outfit!
