Hey Limette's!
Milan Fashion Week made a refreshing shift from what could be to what was. Many of the designers were inspired by their house's previous years of success and while there wasn't a sign of scaling back on the runway (there was plenty of luxury and fur for all of us), there certainly was a notion of appreciation for the years before now that paved the way to success. With Cavalli focusing on his original boho-inspiration and Gucci's Frida Giannini alluding to the sleek pants and sexy dresses of the 70's, it was a true "whats old is new" story in Milan.
Here are the looks I thought were absolutely spendido....
In his show notes, the designer claimed he'd always created dresses for the most beautiful women and "for men who need the beauty of women to complete themselves." While many didn't seem to jive with Roberto Cavalli's trip to his boho-inspired nostalgia land of the earlier years, I for one was a big fan. Harem pants, floaty tulle, backless dresses mixed with details of brocade leather, and embroidered broadtails. It was youthful and new in its own decadent, inspiring way.
Frida Giannini said after her show; "I've grown up. It's more mature clothes for more mature women, because that's what I am," This Gucci collection proved that the Ready-to-Wear Frida Giannini sends down the runway is wearable and ready for the ladies of fifth avenue. My favorite piece was the leopard print fur & suede over the knee boot combo that the fabulous Abbey Lee Kershaw strutted down.
Sequins, Velvet and Pops of color were sent down the runway at the Giorgio Armani Fall 2010 show. While I honestly expected a little bit more from the icon, the pieces below were my favorite 6 and for obvious reasons. I could only imagine the gasp that came from Rachel Zoe was as loud as mine; I'm sure we shared in the love of the boho-chic asymmetrical one shoulder dress that came vibrantly flowing down the runway.
While I am a fan of the simple, chic ready-to-wear collections previous designers have offered. Peter Dundas sent down a collection that was pure heaven for me. Look after look of sexy vibrant colors, daring cuts & luxurious fabrics. What more could a girl ask for? This collection was designed for the sexy, youthful, daring fashionistas of Hollywood.
The Juicer says Ciao to Milan and Bonjour to Paris Fashion Week!
