Those who know me, know I follow the industry very closely and have my list of models who are changing the way we look at the plus size world; and the lovely Crystal Renn is one of them.
She is fierce, unaplogetic and wonderfully talented; all qualities which shine through in the May 2010 issue of Vogue Paris. With Penelope Cruz editing this issue, a feature story on Renn was decided upon because Cruz said she was "touched by her story".
In this issue, Crystal continues on her path of doing those things that, some say, plus size models shouldn't do. From being shot on all fours to a full frontal image of her in a red trench coat, Renn continues to push the enevlope.
I appreciate her confidence and strength she brings to her work, but have to wonder why the emphasis on nudity in all the recent shoots of plus size models? The industry is rapidly growing and gaining more exposure as the minutes pass, but when will we stop placing the magnifying glass over these women's beautiful bodies & use them as the muses they're intended to be. Personally I view it all as an art form, a beautiful form of expressionsim that helps the rest of the world recognize that size and beauty are unrelated.
But when will we remove the focus off the body, and bring it back to fashion?

Everything aside, this shoot is strong and fierce and Renn continues to push forward and make major strides for the plus size modeling insudtry- and thats a fact none of us can argue!
Now.. let's start the comments..
